Currently I'm helping the campaign create a Community Interest Company, which will provide protection for the site in the event that the owners try to sell the land to a third party.

Dan Watkins, Chair of the Tooting Wheatsheaf Supporters, was contacted by Anthony Thomas last week with proposed plans that he had obtained from Enterprise Inns, the owner of the Wheatsheaf. He confirmed that Antic has not yet secured a long-term lease or purchase of the pub, meaning that notice could be served by Enterprise at any time.
Among those local people recognised in the Queen’s New Year Honours list for 2014 was Michelle Harris, the head of the Family Recovery Project at Wandsworth Council. I wrote to Michelle to congratulate her on being awarded an MBE and for the excellent results her team are achieving. Following that, I was pleased to have the chance to visit the team last week and see first-hand the excellent work they are doing for the community.
Wandsworth has recently announced another freeze in its share of the Council Tax, meaning that it barely charges any more than it did four years ago. Given that inflation was quite high until recently, this equates to about a 10% real-terms drop in the cost of council services for Tooting residents.
