Please join us at the Balham & Tooting Community Awards on 24th November, where we will be celebrating those individuals and groups who volunteer locally to make our area a better place. The evening is a lot of fun with food, drinks and entertainment provided.
Since our last public meeting on Crossrail 2 in December, a huge amount has happened in regards to the choice of local station for this new railway line.This event is open to all local residents and businesses, to provide an update on where we have got to, what the next steps are and to discuss what the impact on Tooting might be - positive and negative - from having Crossrail 2 at Tooting Broadway.
Local volunteers are coming together to do a big Tooting spring clean as part of the build-up to the Queen's 90th Birthday. Tooting has several notorious spots for litter and fly-tipping which we'll be tackling as part of this inititiativeWe're meeting outside Tooting Broadway tube at 10am on Sunday 10th April. Rubbish bags and litter-pickers will be provided, but do bring gloves if you can.
The third annual awards ceremony for Love Your Local will be held at The French Cafe on Ritherdon Rd on Friday 22nd April. Joining me will be Jane Ellison MP and we will be presenting awards to the winning shops in Balham, Tooting and Earlsfield.The awards start at 5pm and all local shops and residents are welcome, so please email me at dan@danwatkins.org.uk if you'd like to join us in celebrating our best independent retailers.There is still time to vote at www.LoveYourLocalShops.com
BATCA (Balham & Tooting Community Association) is holding its fourth Community Awards night to honour local individuals and community groups who work hard for our area.The evening will feature dinner, entertainment and presentation of the awards by a local panel of judges (including myself this year!).
