I'll be chairing our latest Safer Neighbourhood Team and Neighbourhood Watch panel meeting. This time we will have a very special guest - Chief Superintendant Richard Smith, who leads the policing effort in Wandsworth - so we wil be able to get a broader perspective on policing in Tooting and the borough as a whole.
One of my passions is ensuring that young people in Wandsworth are able to find work. But while the economy in Tooting is growing well and creating jobs, we still have a significant number of 'NEETs' (not in Education, Employment or Training), who are struggling to take their first step towards a job.
BATCA (the Balham & Tooting Community Association) is holding its annual Tooting Fun Day on Broadwater Road on Saturday 13th September. This is the largest street festival in Tooting and we expect a large number of visitors. If you haven't been before, it's a great public event which provides lots of family fun and pulls the whole community together.
